This policy explains how Base Layer uses cookies and similar technologies on baselayer.dk. For information about personal data and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files saved by your browser. They can remember preferences or help services recognize a browser across visits. Local storage also saves information in your browser, but does not automatically send it with each website request.

Your consent preference

We store your analytics and advertising choices in local storage under bl-cookie-consent. This preference allows the banner to remember your decision on later visits. It remains until you change it or clear the site’s browser storage; the current preference does not have an automatic expiry.

This storage is used to remember your privacy choices, rather than to measure your browsing or target advertising.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, managed through Google Tag Manager, to measure website usage. Depending on your choices and our tag configuration, this can include page views, interactions, referral sources, device information and browser identifiers.

Reports help us understand which pages and links are useful. Although reports can show aggregated results, this does not mean that all underlying information is anonymous.

Advertising

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising tags can measure advertising results and associate visits or actions with an advertising referral. Depending on your choices and configuration, they may also support advertising personalization and use cookies or other identifiers.

The banner provides an Advertising choice separate from Analytics.

Accepting, rejecting or changing choices

The banner lets you:

• Accept all: enable both analytics and advertising consent.
• Reject all: deny both categories.
• Manage preferences: select categories separately and save your choices.

You can reopen the controls at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Your saved selections appear when you reopen them. To withdraw consent for both categories, choose Reject all.

Optional analytics and advertising storage is denied until you enable the relevant category. Your choices are communicated to the Google and Microsoft consent integrations on this site.

When you disable Analytics, we remove the accessible _ga and _ga_… cookies on the Base Layer domain. When you disable Advertising, we remove accessible _gcl_… cookies, including _gcl_au, and the _uetsid and _uetvid cookies on our domain. Choosing Reject all applies both steps. Your saved choice also applies on later page loads.

This cleanup covers these known cookies on our domain. It cannot remove cookies on Google, Microsoft or other external domains, or cookies that browser scripts cannot access. It does not erase information previously collected by a provider or every other item of browser storage.

We use consent-mode integrations that adjust measurement according to your choices. Rejecting optional cookies does not block every network request: Google and Microsoft tags can still send consent signals and measurements without optional cookies. These requests can include page and referral information, browser or device information, and technical network information. They are used for measurement and modelling; absence of cookies does not mean that no information is transmitted.

Cookie lifetimes and browser controls

The main cookies observed on the Base Layer domain are listed below. They are set by Google or Microsoft tags when the corresponding category is enabled.

Lifetimes can change with provider settings and browser restrictions. For example, Chrome limits cookie expiry to 400 days, which can shorten Google’s two-year default. Expiry may be renewed during later visits while the relevant consent remains enabled. Cookies can also be removed earlier through our consent controls or your browser settings. Analytics data retention is separate from cookie expiry.

Advertising referrals may cause additional cookies to be set, such as Google’s _gcl_aw or Microsoft’s _uetmsclkid. Provider-domain cookies, such as Microsoft’s MUID or Google advertising cookies, may also be present depending on consent, browser settings and prior interactions with those services. Their controls and lifetimes are described in the providers’ notices.

Your browser lets you inspect, block or delete cookies and site storage. Clearing the Base Layer local-storage preference causes the banner to appear again. Browser controls complement the website’s consent choices; blocking all site storage may prevent your preference from being remembered.

Affiliate and external websites

Some links may earn Base Layer a commission. Following an affiliate link may pass referral information to the destination service, which may use cookies to attribute a purchase. The destination website’s privacy notice and consent controls apply there.

Our consent controls apply to Base Layer and do not set your preferences on external websites.
